An American life in Japan
Thanks for coming. I’m Paul Durant, Executive/Cross-Cultural Coach, Real Estate Consultant, Tour Guide and Writer. Hakuba365 is my journey from Los Angeles, California to the beautiful Hakuba Valley in the Northern Japanese Alps. Along the way I’ve built a home and a life in Japan for my family, built relationships, and brought tourists and new residents to this beautiful part of the world.
If you want to live or buy a home in Japan I can work with you to find the perfect place. Our team is unique in Japan because we provide more than just English consultation, or a proxy buyer. We are a buyer’s full service consultancy with a licensed broker who can search unpublished listings, visit prospective homes, and provide full support during the negotiation and introductions into the neighborhood We also provide English translations on contracts and liaisons with sellers and seller’s agents.
If you’re moving to Japan for business or for work, I can help guide you through the cultural foundations you’ll experience and interact with in Japan. Relocating to Japan can be challenging. Things here can appear very confusing and even off-putting for non-Japanese. But negotiating the business environment successfully can make the difference between a fruitful assignment and a missed opportunity. In my 15 years in Japan I have developed a keen sense of Japanese business culture, while at the same time coaching and working with Japanese to achieve their business goals in the West.
If you are visiting Japan I can provide a unique and bespoke experience in the Japanese Alps – away from the throngs of tourists. Nagano is one of the most beautiful and unique regions in Japan – with ancient temples and shrines adorning the mountainsides, villages with venerable villas and terraced rice fields that have existed for hundreds of years. It’s a place where culture, ritual and tradition exist not as a show for tourists, but as a part of daily life. Nagano has some of Japan’s most notable cultural assets, but that is only scratching the surface. I promise that after you arrive in Nagano, like me, you’ll never want to leave.
